VISAKHAPATNAM: Five persons were killed in three different road accidents in Vizag district on Saturday. In the first incident, three youngsters died on the spot after their bike hit a tree near Marrivalasa village under K Kotapadu Mandal. The deceased were identified as K Manikanta (22) and his friends Y Sai (19) and K Trinath (20).
The police said that Manikanta was native of Gotlam village under K Kotapadu Mandal. He invited his friends Sai and Trinath for the inauguration of a temple in his village. After the inauguration of the temple, the trip went to a nearby village for refreshment.
While they were returning to Gotlam, Manikanta, the rider lost control over the bike due to high speed and hit a tree. The trio died on the spot.
In another incident, a man died on the spot while his wife suffered injuries after their bike skidded off on the road near the NTPC area under Parawada Mandal in the district.
In another incident, a man was crushed to death after his bike was hit by a speeding lorry near a Dhaba hotel under Parawada Mandal in the district. The police have registered cases and the bodies were shifted to the government hospitals for post mortem.
