MOTIHARI: Two unidentified bike-borne criminals shot dead one Ramesh Yadav (40), the husband of Chhoradano block deputy pramukh Sangita Devi, in his market near Motor Chowk under Chhoradano police station area in East Champaran district on Saturday. Police sources said political rivalry seems to be the reason behind the murder.
SHO Manoj Kumar said Ramesh was sitting near a shop in the market when two bike-borne persons reached there and fired indiscriminately. “He ran to a nearby room but the criminals reached there and shot at him,” the SHO said.
SIT formed in E Champaran murder case
Naresh Kumar, a local, said the injured Ramesh was rushed to a private nursing home at Motihari, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
East Champaran SP Kumar Ashish told this newspaper that a special investigating team (SIT), headed by DSP Satish Suman, had been constituted to investigate the case. “CCTV footage of nearby shops are being scrutinised,” he said. A large number of locals blocked the Chhoradano-Motihari road in protest. Shopkeepers downed their shutters demanding arrest of the criminals. Tension was prevailing in Chhoradano area. DSP Satish along with police force was camping there.
