An Australian mum has shared the ultimate shopping bag storage hack that keeps the boot of her car neat and tidy – and she uses a bargain product from Kmart to do the trick.
‘I found this today and knew it would be perfect for all the shopping bags in my boot!’ she said.
The product she used is the expandable storage caddy ($17) which has three large compartments with two extra side pockets for knick-knacks.

‘I use my storage caddy for nappies and spare clothes for the newborn as well as swimmers and extra clothes for the boys,’ shared another mum
The post received thousands of likes and hundreds of comments, with many commending the mum’s unconventional use of a nursery storage caddy.
‘I love this idea for it,’ said one woman. ‘I use mine for nappies and spare clothes for the newborn as well as swimmers and extra clothes for the boys.’
‘This is so much better than my method of storing shopping bags,’ said another. ‘I keep them … on top of the fridge, in the cupboard, on top of the cupboard, in my car’s boot, in my husband’s car’s boot…’ she trailed off humorously.
A third said, ‘Gosh, I really need this. I keep my bags folded in a drawer at home and always forget them.’
Others offered helpful tips to optimise the storage caddy’s use.
‘I bought a stretchy strap from Bunnings and attached it to the head rest of my rear seats – the bags don’t bounce around when I’m driving anymore.’
Another added, ‘if you’re not fussed about carpet hairs coming off I would suggest velcro stickers for the bottom,’ said another. ‘My little ones jump around too much to have straps in the car.’
‘These are great for little school bags or just all the random kids stuff parents need to keep in the car.’
‘I have three in my car!’ admitted one mum. ‘One for each kid – I couldn’t help myself.’

Many added that the storage caddies were optimal for an assortment of items people may need around the car – such as extra nappies, sanitiser, a change of clothes, sunscreen
Others joked around that not even the storage caddy would help them remember to use the shopping bags they own.
‘I bet all my shopping bags I’d still forget to take them with me,’ said one woman.
‘Don’t see how this will help me – I have my bags in the front seat and still forget.’
But not everyone was sold on the idea.
‘I did this, but then hated it as to took up too much space,’ wrote one woman.
‘This hack is not helpful – I don’t want to buy extra items to better organise my stuff.’
