SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man was killed early Sunday when they were ejected from a car that had been rear-ended by a semitruck and had struck a wall on the Lake Jessup Bridge, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at 1:18 a.m. on State Road 417 at mile marker 46 and involved three vehicles total — two cars and the semitruck — which were all headed southbound, troopers said.

The front of the semitruck struck the rear of a car in the outside lane, causing the car to strike a concrete wall and rotate before striking the wall a second time, according to a crash report. The second impact with the wall ejected a passenger in the car — sitting in the rear, driver’s side seat — who landed in Lake Jesup, the report said.
After these initial impacts, the vehicle was redirected into the path of a car traveling southbound in the inside lane and was struck by it, causing that car to strike the wall as well, troopers said.
Both the driver of the car that was rear-ended and one of their remaining passengers were seriously injured in the crash; a third person in their car sustained minor injuries, as did the driver of the other car involved, troopers said. All were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the report said.
The body of the 60-year-old man who was thrown into Lake Jesup was recovered by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
